This is going to come out bad but it's driving me CRAZY! I follow A LOT of blogs. Love them really I do but I hate CAPTCHA's I hate having to type in the word every time I post something. It's really time consuming believe it or not. Especially when you are trying to read 200 blogs that have it. It stops me some times from posting more on some blogs. Sorry but it's the truth.
So if anyone has some feed back that might make things easier on me let me know or if you want to tell me to shut it thats fine too ;)

Are CAPTCHA's the word verification feature? Because, yes, I hate that necessary evil as well. Especially the ones that it comes up only after you've entered your comment, so you have to go back and type it in. Bleh.
I am SO with you on this!
I HATE those CAPTCHA's.
And what makes me the most mad is that sometimes I'll type out a comment and hit submit, and exit out of my tab before the word verification comes up. So I end up losing the comment.
Or I'm sitting there typing the word verification in like 3 times before I get it right because I'm in a hurry. Grrr.
Great post, I absolutely, 100 percent agree :)
Captchas are the bane of my existence...truly. That said, they block the spam and occasionally provoke humour. One such captcha today used the word fu*kle. I kid you not :)
I totally agree! That's why I disabled the feature on my blog. I haven't received any spam, but I figure, even if I do, I'll be able to delete it, and that way it saves my readers the hassle. I still have it on my "contact me" page, but I don't know how to get rid of it there.
Amen sister! I wish no one used them.
I want to write a little love note to everyone that doesn't use them.
I host memes and reading challenges. For the participants, I leave a comment on each blog, it's a nightmare because almost half have their blogs set on word verification. It takes double the time.
I understand your pain and your rant, but I am a bit confused. Why do you have it? On your comments, I have to type in a sequence of letters for the word verification box.
Thought they were turned off. YIKES!!!!! They should be off now
Your post and all the replies have encouraged me to turn off my word verification. As long as I don't start getting a lot of spam, I'll leave it like that. Thanks so much for following my blog :)
Sometimes I wonder if bloggers know that the word verification has to be turned off. That when you create your blog, it's a default that automatically has it on.
As far as SPAM, mine all but stopped when I removed Anonymous comment option. As a backup, I set my comments on moderation after a post is a day old. Some blogger set theirs for longer...older.
Hmm...it appears as though I am in the minority here but here goes...I don't really mind them that much. I mean, it kind of makes you commit to making the comment versus just plowing through 200 blogs to get your name to show up as a commentor (not saying any of you do that, but I have seen it before). While it's true, the "hidden" ones are quite a pain (those that you hit submit, then it comes back and says error, then you submit again to get a word box....), for the most part they are fairly quick. (The spam issue there too...and I've gotten 2 comments so far like this even with the verification turned on!)
My apologies to anyone that does not like the verification but I think I'll stick with mine for now....happy reading!
Oh, I didn't know you could turn them off.
... Lol.
Funny pictures!! (Scary too...) You won an award at my blog!
Argh, I know! But some people like it that way, so I still do it; it's inconvenient, but I'm not too against it. I sometimes comment, then exit before typing in the security word though. Oops.
You've just been awarded!
Ugh, I hate it too. I realize it helps with spamming and whatnot, but I just make it so I have to verify comments after a few days, that way I can keep unsavory comments off my blog (darn spammers).
I understand your frustration. I hate trying to be a good blogger and comment on blogs, but get held up by all the word verification. But like it was said before, I don't think a lot of blogs know that they have it on.
OMG I so agree. I don't get it, they say to keep spammers away but I have had none...people really need to change it.
This picture is hilarious :-)
xo.
Yes! Too time consuming when you're trying to comment on lots of blogs! We took it off ours and thanks for not having it on yours!
